William (Bill) O'Brien    

A Pennsylvanian lawyer-lobbyist with Conrad O'Brien Gellman (DeStefano) & Rohn who also acted in litigation matters for the Tobacco Institute, and provided them with local counsel about the Philadelphia legislature.

Another Bill O'Brien worked for Brown & Williamson in cigarette marketing and distribution in the 1970s and 80s. He became marginally involved in S&H issues through National Association of Tobacco Distributors (NATD) and TAN activities.

1986 Aug: He is acting for the Tobacco Institute in a court case brought by a lung-cancer victim against Celetex Corporation and the tobacco industry in general.

1989: Accounts of the "Pennsylvania product liability" project in Lorillard files show that O'Brien charged the cigarette companies $294,744 in this year. Hde had an hourly fee arrangement, bringing jis company approx $450,000 in 1990. Projections for 1991 were $375,000.

1996 Dec: O'Brien is acting as legal counsel for Lorillard.
