Sociedad Interamerieana per Ia Libre Expresion Comercial

(SILEC - Latin America's Freedom to Advertise Coalition)

PRELIMINARY MATERIAL ONLY

1993 Dec 28: A Philip Morris list of possible speakers (probably prepared by Aurora Gonzales) for Chris Proctor of BAT. They are collaborating in a proposed Latin American journalists junket.
For Freedom of Commercial Speech [Total advertising freedom], she proposes:

Jose Miruel Liorente - He is the president of an organization called SILEC (Sociedad Interamerieana per Ia Libre Expresion Comercial). This organization has become very active in Latin America and has formed chapters in a number of countries including Venezuela and Chile.

Their goal is to promote self-regulation in advertising. Jose Miguel is based in Miami. I know him and he is a fair speaker. I can send you a copy of his speech given at a Chile Conference a couple of months ago.
[And if you believe a latin american journalist living in Miami is the president of a genuine free-speech organization "with chapters in a number of countries, including Venezuela and Chile" ... without CIA and/or massive US corporate funding ... then you'll believe anything,]
