1988 Apr 30: Monthly report of Helmut Gaisch (FTR) to Philip Morris. IAM and PIC [Marcovich amd Ceschini] — Meeting in Brussels with Prof. J. LENGES (CERIA) and Mr. H. FAUVILLE (PM Belgium), to discuss the ISO meeting, which is to take place in Beijing at the end of the month.
They confirmed that Mr. JANSSENS, Secretary of the IBN (Belgian Institute for Standardisation), intends to have a decision made on the basis of the on-going research at the CERIA. Whatever the outcome of the Beijing meeting, the Belgian Organisation intends to make a decision as soon as possible concerning channel-ventilated cigarettes.
Prof. LENGES will contact Ms. GREVEN (from the Belgian Ministry of Health) when more progress has been made in the research presently being carried out.
1991 Sept: they are considering whether to continue with "Lenges. While I can understand wanting to keep the laboratory (CER1A) involved, I do not think that we should try to make it an IAQ resource. Too long start up with questionable pay off. With HBI activities so successful in Belgium this may be redundant.
He/They had received $64,500 to develop a Cigarette Testing Methodlogy, due to expire in Jan 1992. Began funding in Jan 1990. Funding todate (incl 1991) $129,000, Project completed
Discussion under way to have them perform IAQ testing using PM kits and PM technicans to train CERIA staff.
