There is very little evidence of Kenneth Houghton being involved in any of Philip Morris's underhand activities. He was a research scientist for most of his life, and in 1986 he became the head of the Philip Morris USA. Research and Development (R&D) Department, responsible for the overall direction of the activities of the department, based in Richmond.
Born in New Jersey,
1962: BS in chemistry from St. Peter's College in Jersey City
1969: MS degree in organic chemistry from Seton Hall University and was awarded a National Science Foundation Grant for graduate research.
1972: PhD degree in organic chemistry from Seton Hall.
1970: joined Philip Morris USA.as Technical Director for The Lightfoot Company; Hoboken, New Jersey,
1973: named General Manager
1974: moved to Park 500, Philip Morris Incorporated, Hopewell, Virginia, as Manager,, Process Control and' Quality Assurance.
1976: Manager, Technical Services
1977: General Manager, Park 500 ;
1980: appointed General Manager, Richmond Processing Plants.
1983: Director, Research and Development, PM International for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
1986: head of the Philip Morris USA. Research and Development (R&D) Department responsible for the overall direction of the activities of the department, based in Richmond.
