Steven B Dow

— A Michigan State University lawyer who was willing to write pro-tobacco advertising articles for the local newspaper —

Some key documents

• He credits himself in the 1989 article as being a "non-smoker" — which is a good. But perhaps it also signifies that he has some other vices, including the propsensity to take money for promoting the tobacco industry. He is listed in the Lansing State Journal article as Associate Professor in the College of Business and Business Law at the Michigan State University.

1987 April 24: Dow has written a Tobacco Institute-inspired article "Ban on tobacco ads is wrong approach" for the Lansing State Journal. [Page 8]

1988 Oct 17: Jim Savarese, a favoured consultant to the Tobacco Institute, writes to Fred Panzer about their new Ad-ban project.

I have attached a list of some of the lawyers who participated in the Ad Ban campaign in February 1987. These are the ones I would recommend to use again, but remember we haven't contacted these people since 1987 so I don't know if they are still available or still at the same schools. We should also try to find a couple for the Northeast Area.

He lists 14 tame lawyers who wrote articles for them in 1987, and among the list was "Michigan, Steven B Dow, Lansing State Journal — 4-24-87"
