PRELIMINARY MATERIAL ONLY

1984: Invasion of the Movie Product-Pushers. An article on the success of the major movie product placement organisations
    ``Your product ought to be in pictures," promoters like Robert Kovoloff sing to clients. So successful are Kovoloff and his rivals there may have to be a new Academy Award-for "Best Supporting Product."

    Kovoloff's network is such that some recent movies have begun to resemble brand-name sales conventions.

    Kovoloff has carefully pieced together his 31-person staff not only for their technical savvy but for their own movie-industry contacts. His staff includes:
    • Ron Kaufman, executive vice president, a seasoned film production
    manager who has been in over 30 movies himself and has key studio contacts ;
    • Ace Holmes, a celebrated movie property master for over 40 years,who has worked on dozens of major movies;
    • Eleanor Mondale, daughter of Presidential hopeful Walter Mondale, who has quickly built up her own movie contacts ; and
    • James Ripslinger, the firm's well-connected administrative vice president and corporate counsel.
