1988 June: He is on the list of scientists enlisted to peer-review the science behind the Premier cigarette. RJ Reynolds called this the Spa or Alpha project.
    This document outlines the full extent of their efforts to enlist the scientific community behind this "less-hazardous' cigarette.

    Ian Munro at Cantox is reworking the Covance Lab "90 day rat and mouse studies" and has found several changes that need to be made Dr Newberne has done the pathology report and is working with the Pathologists at Covance. They need another $10,000 to complete the work.
